  • How long should I take Glycotide®?
    Glycotide® is safe and effective when used as indicated for the treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes to lower blood sugar, along with diet and exercise, and reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, or death in adults with type 2 diabetes and known heart disease.
  • Once prescribed Glycotide® for my type 2 diabetes, how long will I have to take it to help me lower my blood sugar?
    You should take Glycotide® exactly as prescribed by your health care provider. If you have any questions about your A1C and blood sugar goals, or changes to your treatment plan, talk with your health care provider. Never make changes to your treatment plan without consulting your health care provider first.
  • Is Glycotide® proven to lower A1C?
    Glycotide® provides powerful A1C reduction. A majority of adults taking Glycotide® reached an A1C under 7% and maintained it. In 2 different studies, adults lowered A1C, on average, by: Glycotide®: 1.4% (0.5 mg) and 1.6% (1 mg) vs placebo: 0.1% Glycotide®: 1.9% (1 mg) and 2.1% (2 mg), taking 1 or 2 diabetes pills from a starting average A1C of 8.0% and 8.9%, respectively. bIn the same 2 studies, the majority of people reached an A1C under 7%: Glycotide®: 73% (0.5 mg) and 70% (1 mg) vs placebo: 28% Glycotide®: 56% (1 mg) and 64% (2 mg) The American Diabetes Association (ADA) recommends that a reasonable goal for most adults with type 2 diabetes is an A1C less than 7%. Your health care provider will tell you what goal is right for you.
  • Has Glycotide® been studied for cardiovascular risk?
    Yes. A study showed that in adults with type 2 diabetes and known heart disease, Glycotide® lowers the risk of major cardiovascular events such as stroke, heart attack, or death.
  • How does Glycotide® work to lower blood sugar?
    Non-insulin Glycotide® works with your body’s own ability to lower blood sugar and A1C. Glycotide® helps your body release its own insulin. And it's designed to respond when your blood sugar rises. Glycotide® works in 3 ways to lower blood sugar: Helps your pancreas produce more insulin when your blood sugar is high Helps prevent your liver from making and releasing too much sugar Slows down food leaving your stomach
  • How do I take Glycotide®?
    You take Glycotide® once-weekly with an Glycotide® injection, as prescribed and instructed by your health care provider. For questions, you should speak with your health care provider. Your health care provider should show you how to use Glycotide® before you use it for the first time. Glycotide® is injected under the skin (subcutaneously) of your stomach (abdomen), thigh, or upper arm. Do not inject Glycotide® into a muscle (intramuscularly) or vein (intravenously).
  • Is Glycotide® right for me?
    There are a number of reasons that Glycotide® could be right for you if you have type 2 diabetes and you're struggling to lower your blood sugar and reach your A1C goal.
  • What is Glycotide®?
    Glycotide® is an injectable prescription medicine for adults with type 2 diabetes used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar (glucose). It also lowers the risk of major cardiovascular events such as stroke, heart attack, or death in adults with type 2 diabetes and known heart disease. It is not known if Glycotide® can be used in people who have had pancreatitis. Glycotide® is not for use in people with type 1 diabetes. It is not known if Glycotide® is safe and effective for use in children under 18 years of age.
  • What is type 2 diabetes?
    Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body does not make enough insulin or doesn’t respond to insulin properly. To understand type 2 diabetes, you need to know what insulin is and why your body needs it.
  • What is GLP-1?
    The main ingredient in Glycotide® is called semaglutide, a man-made version of the human GLP-1 molecule, with some changes. GLP-1, or glucagon-like peptide-1, is a natural hormone that helps your body keep blood sugar in balance. GLP-1 treatments work like this naturally occurring hormone.

  • Is Glycotide® currently available?
    All doses of Glycotide® are now available to retail pharmacies nationwide for appropriate patients with type 2 diabetes. However, pharmacies may experience normal delays given the time required to order the product from their local distribution center, and geographical variabilities.
  • Can I share my Glycotide® injection syringe with others?
    No, do not share your Glycotide® injection syringe with others, even if the needle is changed. You may give other people a serious infection or get a serious infection from them. You should always follow your health care provider’s instructions and use your Glycotide® injection as prescribed.
  • Why do I keep hearing about Glycotide® on social media?
    Social media can play an important role in educating about type 2 diabetes and its management. However, it’s important to recognize that not all information about a medicine or disease on social media is accurate or reliable. If you have any questions about Glycotide® or your treatment plan, it’s important to talk to your health care provider. Never make any changes to your medicine or treatment plan without consulting them first. Any information shared or sponsored by Novo Nordisk online is clearly identified.
  • Is Glycotide® for weight loss? Will I regain weight if I stop using Glycotide®?
    Glycotide® is approved by the FDA for adults with type 2 diabetes to lower blood sugar, along with diet and exercise, and reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, or death in adults with type 2 diabetes and known heart disease. People respond to medicines differently. That's why it is important to talk to your health care provider about any questions you may have about your treatment plan. Glycotide® is not FDA approved for weight loss or chronic weight management.
  • Can I get Glycotide® through telehealth services?
    Some health care providers may offer telehealth services and virtual consultations to assess treatment options. Check with your health care provider to determine the availability of these services.
  • Are people, including celebrities, using Glycotide® strictly for weight loss?
    We cannot control which specific patients receive our prescription-only medicines. What we can do is ensure that we reinforce who our medicines are intended to treat, based on their medical trials and FDA-approved indications, in support of responsible use of these medicines. We take that responsibility seriously—and that is reflected in our communication and promotional efforts. Glycotide® is approved by the FDA for adults with type 2 diabetes to lower blood sugar, along with diet and exercise, and reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, or death in adults with type 2 diabetes and known heart disease.

What is Glycotide®?

Glycotide® (semaglutide) injection is an injectable prescription medicine used:

  • along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar (glucose) in adults with type 2 diabetes.

  • to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, or death in adults with type 2 diabetes with known heart disease.

It is not known if Glycotide® can be used in people who have had pancreatitis.
Glycotide® is not for use in people with type 1 diabetes.
It is not known if Glycotide® is safe and effective for use in children under 18 years of age.

Important Safety Information

Do not share your Glycotide® injection syringe with others, even if the needle has been changed. You may give other people a serious infection, or get a serious infection from them.

What is the most important information I should know about Glycotide®?

Glycotide® may cause serious side effects, including:

  • Possible thyroid tumors, including cancer. Tell your health care provider if you get a lump or swelling in your neck, hoarseness, trouble swallowing, or shortness of breath. These may be symptoms of thyroid cancer. In studies with rodents, Glycotide® and medicines that work like Glycotide® caused thyroid tumors, including thyroid cancer. It is not known if Glycotide® will cause thyroid tumors or a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) in people. 

  • Do not use Glycotide® if you or any of your family have ever had MTC, or if you have an endocrine system condition called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

Do not use Glycotide® if:

  • you or any of your family have ever had MTC or if you have MEN.

  • you are allergic to semaglutide or any of the ingredients in Glycotide®. See symptoms of serious allergic reaction in “What are the possible side effects of Glycotide®?”.

Before using Glycotide®, tell your health care provider if you have any other medical conditions, including if you:

  • have or have had problems with your pancreas or kidneys. 

  • have a history of diabetic retinopathy.

  • are pregnant or breastfeeding or plan to become pregnant or breastfeed. It is not known if Glycotide® will harm your unborn baby or passes into your breast milk. You should stop using Glycotide® 2 months before you plan to become pregnant.

Tell your health care provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, herbal supplements, and other medicines to treat diabetes, including insulin or sulfonylureas.

What are the possible side effects of Glycotide®?

Glycotide® may cause serious side effects, including:

  • inflammation of your pancreas (pancreatitis). Stop using Glycotide® and call your health care provider right away if you have severe pain in your stomach area (abdomen) that will not go away, with or without vomiting. You may feel the pain from your abdomen to your back.

  • changes in vision. Tell your healthcare provider if you have changes in vision during treatment with Glycotide®.

  • low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Your risk for getting low blood sugar may be higher if you use Glycotide® with another medicine that can cause low blood sugar, such as a sulfonylurea or insulin. Signs and symptoms of low blood sugar may include: dizziness or lightheadedness, blurred vision, anxiety, irritability or mood changes, sweating, slurred speech, hunger, confusion or drowsiness, shakiness, weakness, headache, fast heartbeat, and feeling jittery.

  • kidney problems (kidney failure). In people who have kidney problems, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting may cause a loss of fluids (dehydration), which may cause kidney problems to get worse. It is important for you to drink fluids to help reduce your chance of dehydration.

  • serious allergic reactions. Stop using Glycotide® and get medical help right away if you have any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat; problems breathing or swallowing; severe rash or itching; fainting or feeling dizzy; or very rapid heartbeat.

  • gallbladder problems. Gallbladder problems have happened in some people who take Glycotide®. Tell your health care provider right away if you get symptoms which may include: pain in your upper stomach (abdomen), fever, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), or clay-colored stools.

The most common side effects of Glycotide® may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach (abdominal) pain, and constipation.
